Why Discipleship?

“Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, apart from me you can do nothing."

John 15:5

Discipleship: the process of becoming more like Jesus in both thought and action; to become committed to the teachings of Jesus Christ. 

We believe God calls us to faith in Him so that we can live and rejoice in our new identity. We believe discipleship is necessary for growth as God's children, and it's a core part of truly living for Him and finding healing from sin and hurt.

We believe discipleship is God's calling for everyone.

WHAT IS "LIFE-ON-LIFE" DISCIPLESHIP?

"Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the Gospel of God, but our very lives as well." 
 
1 Thessalonians 2:8

We need authentic community to produce authentic disciples.

 

Authenticity is found by allowing our lives to be close enough to teach, model, and practice living for and loving Jesus.  We believe we need to see each other's failures as well as the victories.

Authenticity is difficult. Life-on-life discipleship is for us to walk with each other through the ups and downs, giving Christ the glory through it all.

SO HOW DO YOU DO IT?

"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another."
 
John 13:34-35

Discipleship looks like this: allowing the Holy Spirit to transform you.

We can't force transformation to happen in each other. All we can do is be willing to crucify our sin daily, be vulnerable with each other and remain accountable to one another in our pursuit of godliness. 

Let's find healing together. Let's find growth. Let's find faith, hope and love in the truth of God's Word.
